new 1957 Chevrolet Corvette (1412) -Serial Number E57S100001
The First High Performance Corvette

Like its 1956 counterpart, 1957 SN001 was fully optioned assembly prototype built to test the efficacy of production processes. Built on or about August 9, 1956, it was the first production Corvette equipped with the new 283ci engine. The block, dated July 19, 1956, is one of approximately 20 blocks cast that month. The heads are 1956 #762 castings dated July 20, 1956, the #997 versions yet to be produced. The dual quad carburetors, exhaust manifolds, choke tube and ignition shields are late 1956, as are the starter and several other components.

The car was fortuitously discovered circa 1968 by NCRS Technical Chairman Sam Folz, who had been asked by its young owner, a local college student named Roger Schrock, to help sove a water leak problem. Folz invited Schrock to bring the car to him, and it was while he was checking information in his copy of the Corvette Body Service Operations Manual (August, 1957 and May, 1960 Editions) that he realized its VIN matched that of the car in the Service Manual: it was E57S1000001, the first production Corvette of 1957!

Roger Schrock later sold the car to Mr. Donald Bisceglia of Kalamazoo, Michigan on May 6, 1969, and it subsequently changed hands several more times in the Kalamazoo area over the next 10 years until its aquisition by Sam Folz, who then sold it to Thomas Harmer on October 10, 1977.

Tom and Kathy Harmer sold 1957 SN001 along with the 1955 and 1956 SN001 cars to Gene Morton and Jerry Kennedy in 1983. George Swartz and Al Wiseman purchased all three cars in 2005.

This amazing, one-of-a-kind numbers-matching Corvette has been expertly restored to its original condition. 1957 SN001 scored 97.4 points in its first post-restoration showing on September, 2007, and is now excepted by Corvette authorities to score 98.5 or better.

NOTE: This car is part of the Serial Number 1 collection, they will NOT!!! be sold individually. All three are sold as a package 1955, 1956, 1957.
